Interested in learning a nonviolent martial art?
One that is simultaneously healthy, effective and ethical?
Suitable for all ages, men and women alike?

Consider trying Aikido.

Aikido Renmei is a nonprofit club, member of the Bohemia Aikikai, and under the style of Shoji Nishio Sensei, 8. Dan Aikido, and the Hombu Dojo, Aikido World Headquarters, Tokyo, Japan.

We practice strenuously with mutual respect in a fun and enjoyable manner.

Some classes are available in native English while our other instructors are fluent, so there is no problem with a language barrier.

The Instructors:

Jirka Marek - 4. Dan Aikikai, 3. Dan Aiki Toho Iai
ICQ 148-180-887
Simona Cerna - 3. Dan Aikikai, 1. Dan Aiki Toho Iai
ICQ 275-117-997
Petr Hvezda - 3. Dan Aikikai, 1. Dan Aiki Toho Iai
ICQ 31-517-532
Larry Kwolek - 3. Dan Aikikai, 1. Dan Aiki Toho Iai
ICQ 4-177-800

The four instructors bring together over 50 years of experience in aikido with a variety of other martial arts as well.

We share the same dedication to the style of Nishio Sensei and the belief that Aikido is both a martial art and effective self defense that can reduce, not promote violence.

As we are a nonprofit club prices are quite low.

You are welcome to just visit and try a couple of classes for free.

"Little pain, no damage, both happy"**

- ** Quote from Shishiya Sensei, one of our teachers, Senior student of Nishio Sensei, and Regional Instructor to the Czech Republic

Classes are Co-Ed. Beginners welcome!

Questions? Just stop by before class.

Getting Started:

The investment for starting aikido are pretty minimal:

  • Clothing - Normally, we train in an outfit called a “dogi” generally the same as a judo kimono because it offers the same benefits of strength and comfort necessary for aikido, but to get started you just need a pair of sweat pants, and a HEAVY T-shirt. You need a strong shirt that your partner can grab and hold onto as they fall, so it needs to be sturdy. You can also use a karate gi if you have one.
    • If you want to get a dogi you can find them in Czech Republic at the following retailers -
  • Timing -Try to come at least 30 minutes early to introduce yourself and to change.
  • Hygiene - Also a pair of slippers for walking in the dojo, soap and a towel if you want a shower after. Bring a lock for a locker.
  • Weapons - Eventually you will want to get your own set of training weapons, including a wooden sword, stick, and knife (bokken, jo and tanto) and a bag to keep them in, but in the beginning there are some available in the club for your use during classes.
